I found this exercise to be somewhat enlightening. It was wasn't difficult to focus on my loved ones and to enjoy the feelings of peace, love, health, and happiness. It was difficult though to feel them suffering. I always have a hard time dealing with my loved one's suffering in any way. When the exercise moved towards bringing in everyone, even those that we are not fond of, it really got difficult for me. I have been so used to shutting certain people out of my daily thoughts because of the fact that they envoke negative thoughts and feelings, it was hard to bring them into this exercise.
As for the concept of "mental workout", I see it as exercising our mind, training it as we do when we are training physically. When we decide to start a physical regimen to train our muscles, we follow this regimen until we get the desired results. The same applies to our mental workouts, we follow through with our mind, body, and spirit until we get the desired result of psychological flourishment.

Unit 3 Post
In rating my physical well-being, I would have to say that I am at a 9. I have started getting up at 4am everyday to exercise. This has helped me to start my day off with more energy than if I was to jump out of bed with only enough time to rush getting ready for work and racing to get there in time. I rate my spiritual well-being at an 8. I say this because even though I do not start my day without prayer and go through my day feeling total compassion for the patients we serve on hospice care, I believe that there are some things that I still need to work on in order to build up my spiritual self. My spirit takes a beating sometimes when we have difficult hospice care cases. As for my psychological well-being, at this time I have to rate it at 7. I have been very stressed at work nad my mind has been going 100 miles per minute on all the corporate changes that are taking place and how it's going to affect all of us.
My goals for each area are not beyond reach at all, I just need to get started on attaining them. My physical goal is already in progress as I exercise 6 days/per week for 30-60 minutes per session. I eat a very healthy plant based diet. I'm hoping to lose some weight and tone everything up as I lose the weight. The goal for my spiritual well-being is to improve upon it by finding a church that I feel comfortable going to. I need to surround myself with positive & caring energy after all the sadness and stress of a day at work. My goal for psychological well-being is to find time to meditate in order to relieve the stress of each day. I need some "me time" at the end of each day.
I loved the relaxation technique of this unit. I loved focusing on each color at different body points and letting myself visualize each one. By the end of the technique I felt completely relaxed and was able to go about my tasks without everything being in knots. I believe that this technique will be one that I incorporate frequently.

Journey On Relaxation
During this exercise I found it very easy to follow his instructions. I found myself completely relaxed, almost to the point of falling asleep. I think I will go back to this a few more times so that I can use this technique in the future.
Welcome
Welcome to Mind 4 My Meds. The reason behind the name of my blog has to do with seeking total healing without the use of medications. Healthy eating lifestyle, exercise, and taking time to enjoy each day, will help me reach my goal.
